Girly in my Boyfriend Jeans

The rumors are true. I love white. Okay, so maybe not rumors; it’s pretty obvious that white, gray, and a Lil bit of pinks are my go-to colors! You just can’t go wrong with white, especially in this damn Summer heat. No joke; this shoot looks all glamorous and awesome but this was one of the hottest days on a rooftop in Texas. The sweat was real. I thought if you wore lighter colors, it was supposed to be cooler? Ha-ha; well, guess I’ll stop complaining about the heat. I mean, I begged for it to be Summer, so beggars can’t be choosers.

The real reason for this blog is for the outfit, I promise. As I mentioned, I love white, gray, and pink…girly colors, for the most part. While I am very girly, I love getting dressed up, doing my nails, getting my hair done, all the works. I am very much “bruh” too. I’m not afraid to get sweaty, work hard, ride motorcycles, cuss, and burp (not being sarcastic there). I’m a hang with the “boys” kind of gal. Who says you can’t do both? If anyone tries to tell me differently, it usually ends with “watch me.”

That’s how this look was born. I can’t think of a more girly, but not, outfit! AKA cute and comfortable. How do you pull that off and be stylish without looking sloppy, though?
Overall, I have a balance of some girly elements and not so girly elements in this look.

Here’s a little breakdown:

THE GIRLY SIDE:

  1. Overall color scheme with baby pinks, whites, and gray because pastels are always a great way to look girly.
  2. Rose gold accessories to spice up the outfit and bring out that baby pink element. Sunglasses, bracelets, earrings, and watches…pretty much accessorizing 101.
  3. Bright blonde (or whatever color; there is no discrimination here, ladies) Curly Hair to dress it up a little bit. Curls for the girls, right? Lol.
  4. A fuzzy purse for all of my crap because yeah, us women need that.

THE NOT SO GIRLY SIDE:

  1. Ripped up boyfriend jeans. Comfort is numero uno, always, for me. These over-sized, hole jeans pretty much equal walking around in underwear. Plus, they just look so cool.
  2. A bodysuit which could be considered the girly side because I wanted something more form fitting at the top with the lose baggy pants for a more put together look. However, the “boy” side is saying the less you have to worry about, the better and moving around freely without worrying if your shirt is wrinkled or moving is A+.
  3. Sneakers. I’m always on the go. I love wearing heels but I’m not wearing them just to stroll around town. They are for special events or if I need to be dressed “up.” Although, heels with this outfit would be totally rad too!
  4. Scrunchy. I never know what activity I’ll get into next, so I’m always prepared. Yes, scrunchies ARE a thang and you know within two hours of your hair down that shit is going up; so get one!

So, who says you can’t have comfort and style?

This look is perfect for any Traveler, Tom-Boy, Fashionista, Athlete, Moms, or on the Go Boss Babe! No matter what you are doing for the day, casual or not, putting yourself together is always a great way to set the tone.

BOOM BOOM BLONDE

Happy Birthday ‘Merica! Ahhh that red, white, and blue! My 4th was rather chill, with a little movie date with the hubs and watching fireworks in the park behind our house. However, I did start the morning with a fun little hair day at the cutest PEACHY KEEN STUDIO (@peachykeenstudio)! I recently just got a fresh new ‘do and I’ve been getting so many questions about it. So I thought I’d share the love.

Tawna Blog_4 july

I’ve always had blonde hair but it was usually a buttery, honey, and eventually brassy blonde. Ha-ha; true story. I had done the damage in my heyday with that Playboy Bunny, allover platinum look. You know with one sleep and you have a reverse skunk look hair; that one. All of the years of that ruined my hair; so I took a break and went the rooty, au naturel way. Well, I’ve been craving some brightness and knew just the Balayage expert to see!

VIVIANA (@hairbyviviana) at PEACHY KEEN STUDIO made me that frosty, icy, white blonde I’ve always wanted. All the while keeping my rooty-ness, making it look oh so natural. I had always used clip-ins. As I was saying, I’ve been trying to heal my hair. Viviana talked me into her new style “Hand Tied Method,” with less damage. Just a few rows of beads and sewn in tracks and firecracker, firecracker, boom boom, boom…hair for dayyyyz! I’ve had them a little over a week and am obsessed. Girls, I literally wake up, brush through it, and go. Ponytails, you ask? Let’s be real. I live in the gym; if I couldn’t have a ponytail or a messy bun, then I wouldn’t want them. Honestly, they are way more comfortable than even my clip-ins because there are only three rows versus like seven of those suckers all over my head. I definitely was limited to hair styles with clip-ins but can’t wait make some big ol’ fat braids and ponies my new hair!

I could go on and on about how awesome they are, but I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy 4th!

To Love Yourself Series

SELF LOVE is one of the hardest things to do. I used three different quotes for each picture on my Instagram. I chose these because these are thoughts that I have had before or sometimes still currently have. I hope this little series can be helpful to you if you ever have these feelings too!

How to ALWAYS slay your look

1: Keep your wardrobe fresh.

It’s easy to let your closet get completely cluttered. Guilty as charged. We all need to periodically go through, clean out and add some new freshness! Have you ever looked in your closet and found a shirt that you literally wore in High School? Yeah, I’m also guilty as charged on that one too. Now don’t get me wrong, vintage is in and sometimes that can be a good thing to hang on to some items. Just be sure it’s something that you really aren’t ready to part with. I like to use the 1 for 1 rule of thumb. If I buy 1 new shirt, I need to get rid of 1 shirt. If I buy 1 new pair of pants, I get rid of 1 pair, so on and so on. Of course, you can always get rid of more but that’s your minimum! I’m not much on resale shops as I think it’s more of hassle and you never really get what it’s worth anyways. There is no better feeling than taking a big ol bag to a local donation center knowing someone out there is going to be clothed. Good deed, check. Closet cleaned out, check!

I’m a watch gal for sure. I think watches are the easiest way to accessorize your outfit. I fell in love with MVMT when Greg bought me my first one for my birthday last year. It was small and sleek but still just enough to make a statement. Plus, it was white and gold and I love anything in that color scheme. (The entire wedding was white and gold) Well, one thing led to another and I am now the owner of 5 MVMT watches and counting! I’ve worn these watches travelling the World, dressed up and dressed down. They are the perfect style to go with just about anything you put them with. One of my favorite features are the interchangeable straps. Depending on what face you have you can swap out the leather or metal bands to mix and match, which gives you more color options as well as more watches in general! Looks expensive but the price is right. Their motto “Style shouldn’t break the bank” and I’ll second that.  If you like a minimalist design with a cool story you should join the MVMT too.

Three different Gym Looks: by BETTER BODIES

I pick my outfits depending on my mood, which usually changes every two point five seconds it feels like (hormones). I also pick my gym outfits based on what I’ll be training that day. If it’s lower body, I’ll usually wear tights so that I know everything is covered up. If it’s upper body, I will wear a cut off or tank top so I feel comfortable moving around. Usually something like that.

Just because I’m going to the gym and going to get sweaty doesn’t mean I want to look slouchy. Of course, I’m there to get shit done. I know the saying is if you are, “there looking pretty, then you’re there for the wrong reasons.” Well, I dress up because it makes me feel good about MYSELF, not to impress anyone else. Let’s face it, sometimes a new outfit or a cute one is motivation to get to the gym anyway! Most of us women find excuses to wear our new little numbers, so if that means you get your tushy to the gym then by all means hunny…slayyyy your gym look!

Here are three different looks you could wear to the gym to kill your workout and still look cute.

My Wedding Dress

My dream dress. I’d be lying if I said it was what I had been dreaming of my whole life. To be honest with you, I hadn’t ever thought about what wedding dress I would wear until Greg proposed. For the longest time, I didn’t even want to get married! Well, that was until Greg came around, of course. Ladies, we all want to be independent, strong women, who “don’t need no man;” but when that prince charming DOES come around, you jump on that like white on wedding cake! It doesn’t come often and I knew if I didn’t snag this one while I had him…then I wouldn’t be wearing this amazing dress ever!

Music Festival Look!

My Summer Burst Music Festival outfit! My husband and I travel to Stockholm a lot for business. It just so happened that the music festival was going on at the tail end of our trip. It was a must-see. A check mark on bucket-list for me to attend a music festival in Europe! 50,000 people, bass pounding, in the middle of an open field with a huge stage, insane lighting, it felt like how I have imagined Woodstock! We saw DJ’s Deadmau5, David Guetta, and the Biebs! You can’t live in this generation and not see Justin Bieber. It. Was. EPIC!
